Chuck Close is one of my favorite artist. I love the idea of a picture within a picture. From afar, his work shows brilliantly captured details of people in their painted portraits. Once you get up close, all you see is a n array of colors and shapes. His work is amazing to me.
Gerhard Richter is one of my favorite abstract artist. He is by no means afraid of color and I find so much beauty in the technique he uses to create these enormous master pieces full of lines, streaks, and blots of paint.
I was just introduced to Dana Tanamachi last year by another design friend of mine. She is AMAZING at chalk art and typography. Below are just a few works from her large portfolio. I love that she was able to apply her style into the 2013 Nike Women's campaign, design the cover of Oprah's magazine and so much more. She took what you would most often find in sketchbooks or in front of stores that embrace chalk art and introduced it to the world of graphic design.
Photography is also another huge inspiration of mine. I love capturing moments with a camera. I also posted the below images because I have a huge passion for dance. I've been dancing since I was three and now I teach. I think my obsession with this art form sometimes carries over into my design work in terms of clean lines, negative space, and elegance.
